The Road to Paris 2024

Roderick Sewell’s Olympic Journey Begins Now

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics have just wrapped up, albeit a year behind schedule, and that leaves less than three years until thousands of athletes from around the world make the journey to Paris in 2024. For Floyd’s ambassador and Pan Pacific Para Swimming Champion Roderick Sewell, his road to the 2024 Paralypmics begins now.

“I’ve gotten to the point where I rely on internal motivation. I have to love it and enjoy it first, then I can push my limits.” -Roderick Sewell

While Roderick is an accomplished swimmer and multiple gold medal winner Team USA Pan Pacific Para Championships in the 100-meter breaststroke, he’s gravitated toward triathlons in recent years. A CAF athlete since he was 8 years old, Roderick is the first bilateral above-the-knee amputee to finish the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona on prosthetic legs after completing a 2.4-mile open-water swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon 26.2-mile run.

Not only is he an incredible athlete, he’s served as a mentor in his local community and spent years teaching at an outreach swim program at his YMCA in San Diego, CA.

We’re proud to support Roderick and and all his #RelaxandRecover CBD needs as he begins a new three year Olympic training process in Colorado Springs, CO.

What is Roderick’s training schedule looking  like and how does he incorporate Floyd’s CBD into his regimine?

“My training consists of one or two bike rides a day with one longer ride of 4 hours once a week. My body takes a beating whether it’s when I swim or on the bike and I’ve used CBD Creams and Balms to help me bounce back after a hard training day.  Nutrition and recovery are my focus leading to the Paris 2024 Paralympics.”

My goal for now is to consistently build for the rest of 2021. I’m still very new to cycling and just got a carbon bike two months ago. Right now learning how to hold on to the competition, that’s the goal.

I’ve gotten to the point where I rely on internal motivation. I have to love it and enjoy it first, then I can push my limits. I’ve used CBD when training to help with recovery.”

There are no limits to what this amazing athlete can accomplish and he’s truly an inspiration to all of us here at Floyd’s of Leadville. We’ll be cheering for him every step of the way.
