Know Your CBD:

Full Spectrum Or Isolate—Which Is For Me?

One of the most common questions people ask about CBD is whether to use a “Full Spectrum” or “Isolate” product. There is no single right answer, but Floyd’s of Leadville’s Bob Bell helps shed light on each formulation to inform your choice.

To begin with, Bell says that Full Spectrum or ‘whole plant’ contains CBD but also trace amounts of other cannabinoids that might well have their own benefits and enhance CBD’s action. There’s still a lot of research to be done on exactly how this so called “entourage effect” works, but the prevailing opinion of researchers is that CBD interacts with other cannabinoids much in the same way vitamins are more effectively absorbed from whole food sources than isolates.

While our Full Spectrum products are less than 0.3% THC per FDA guidelines, why do we make a CBD Isolate? It’s a THC-free alternative for people wanting to avoid even trace amounts of it. If this is you, we still want you to relax and recover, so we’ve made a range of products. We publish test results so you can be fully relaxed knowing the your’e taking the highest quality CBD. We also make our products easy to tell apart by using black labels for Full Spectrum and white for Isolate products. All of our Hydration and Recovery Protein mixes as well as Gems are also made with Isolate.

As CBD research progresses and legislation makes it easier for scientists to look into exactly which parts of the hemp plant are beneficial we’ll have a clearer idea of how to combine cannabinoids to treat specific conditions.
